For the CookieKit Pro browser extension.
Effective: May 5, 2026 · Version: 1.0
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") applies to CookieKit Pro (the "Extension"), a browser extension distributed through the Chrome Web Store and compatible Chromium-based browser stores. It describes the data the Extension can access on a user's device, the strict limitations on how that data is used, and the rights and obligations applicable to that processing.
This Policy applies to all users of the Extension worldwide. Where applicable, it should be read together with the policies of the browser store from which the Extension was installed.
The Extension is a local utility. It enables users to view and manage cookies stored by their own browser. It does not transmit any data over a network, does not collect telemetry, does not perform analytics, does not include advertising, and does not load remote code.
All processing performed by the Extension occurs entirely within the user's browser, on the user's device, in response to actions initiated by the user.
To provide its single purpose of cookie management, the Extension accesses the following categories of data on the user's device:
The Extension reads, creates, modifies, and deletes cookies via the standard chrome.cookies API provided by the browser. This is the central function of the Extension; without cookie access, the Extension cannot operate. Cookies may include authentication tokens (such as session identifiers), site preferences, and other values that websites have set in the user's browser.
The Extension reads the URL of the user's currently active tab in order to determine the hostname for which cookies should be displayed. This information is used solely to scope the Extension's interface to the relevant site and is not retained.
The Extension stores the user's chosen preferences locally using the chrome.storage API. These preferences include the user interface theme (light or dark), the list of cookies the user has marked as protected, the list of cookies the user has marked as blocked, and the maximum cookie expiration setting. This data resides on the user's device and is not transmitted.
The Extension does not collect, transmit, or share any user data with the developer, with any operator of any service, or with any third party. Specifically:
Browser cookies frequently contain authentication tokens such as session identifiers. Because the Extension is a cookie manager, it has the technical ability to read these tokens for the purpose of presenting them to the user in the management interface. The Chrome Web Store classifies this capability under the data category "authentication information" and we disclose it accordingly.
The Extension does not transmit, log, retain, or share authentication information with the developer or any third party. Authentication tokens remain in the user's browser and are surfaced to the user only within the Extension's local interface, in response to the user's own actions.
The Extension provides functionality to export cookies in JSON, Netscape, HTTP header, and Perl::LWP formats. Export operations are initiated by the user. The resulting data is placed on the user's clipboard or downloaded to the user's device as a file. The Extension does not transmit exported data anywhere.
Users are responsible for the handling of exported data. Exported cookie files may contain sensitive authentication tokens and should be treated with the same care as passwords. Users should not share exported cookie files with untrusted parties.
The Extension requests the minimum permissions necessary to provide its functionality. Each permission is declared in the manifest file and used as described below.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| cookies | Required to read, create, modify, and delete cookies. This is the Extension's primary capability. |
| activeTab | Used to determine the hostname of the currently active tab so the Extension can display cookies relevant to that site. |
| tabs | Used to update the toolbar badge that shows the number of cookies for the active tab when the user switches tabs. |
| storage | Used to save the user's preferences locally on the user's device. |
| <all_urls> | Required by the Chrome cookies API to access cookies set by any website. The Extension does not inject content scripts and does not read or modify webpage content. |
The Extension does not share user data with any third party. The Extension does not integrate with any third-party service, advertising network, analytics provider, or content delivery network. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored content, and no commercial relationships in which user data could be involved.
The Extension is a developer-oriented utility and is not directed at children. Because the Extension does not collect personal information from any user, it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If a parent or guardian believes that information may have been provided to the developer in error, they may contact the developer using the channel below.
The developer has reviewed and complies with the Chrome Web Store Developer Program Policies, including the Limited Use requirements applicable to data accessed through Chrome extensions. The developer affirms that:
If material changes are made to this Policy, the effective date at the top of the document will be updated and the new version will be published at the same URL. Users are encouraged to review this page periodically to stay informed of any updates. Continued use of the Extension after a revision becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
For questions or concerns relating to this Policy or the privacy practices described herein, please contact the developer through the support channel listed on the Extension's Chrome Web Store page.
